Pool Rules

All  Middlefork Tennis Club members, AND their guests, are expected to know and respect the  pool rules before using the pool.

  1. In general, the pool is open daily from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M.  At the beginning and end of the summer, pool hours may be abbreviated due to darkness. Per Illinois code, the pool will be closed in case of rain, thunder, lightning, or temperatures of 60 degrees or below
  2. All members MUST check with with a lifeguard when entering the pool area. Checking in is required for insurance purposes and safety reasons.
  3. ALL guests must be accompanied by a member.  Each guest must be registered and a fee of $7.50 per swimming guest will be billed to the host. There is a limit of six guests per family per day. Guests must be accompanied by a member. The pool is usually crowded on weekends and we cannot exceed our capacity of 100 people. Please use common sense when inviting guests.  Senior inactive members will be charged a guest fee upon check-in.
  4. Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies. Parents or guardians are expected to supervise their children. Lifeguards are employed to watch the pool, not to baby-sit children.
  5. No food or glass containers are permitted in the pool or on the pool deck. Only cans or plastic containers are allowed. Limited snacks and beverages are allowed while seated on the pool deck. Please always check your area when leaving, and toss any trash. No eating while swimming, please.
    1. Children under age nine must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian.  Members, and/or their guests, whose behavior is deemed inappropriate by the lifeguards, may be asked to leave the club pool.
    2. Novice swimmers must pass a swimming proficiency test (“Swim Test”) before being allowed out of the children’s portion of the pool. The lifeguard on duty will administer the test.
    3. Children who will be reaching nine years of age by August 31 of the year at hand, may be allowed at the pool unaccompanied, provided they pass the Swim Test. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any child, regardless of age, may be required at the discretion of the lifeguard staff, to be accompanied by an adult.
    4. Young swimmers are NOT allowed outside of the Kiddie Pool alone until they have passed the Swim Test.  Children in floaties are allowed outside the Kiddie Pool only in the presence of a supervising adult. Children in floaties or floatation devices are only allowed off the diving board if their parents or guardian are IN the pool.
  6. Any child who is not fully toilet trained must wear a swim diaper in the pool at all times.
  7. Rough play (dunking, running on the pool deck, etc.) is not allowed. Games must be limited to those that do not cause safety hazards or interfere with other swimmers.
  8. Tennis balls will not be allowed in the pool at any time. Other balls, flotation devices, masks and snorkels, or other pool toys may only be used with permission of the guards, and must be removed from the pool when not in use. No rafts or large flotation devices allowed in the Kiddie Pool.
  9. Diving in the shallow water is not permitted. Diving is permitted only in the designated diving well. Swimmers are responsible for checking the area below the diving board before diving. Only one bounce is allowed on the board. Swimmers are not allowed to jump backwards from the pool edge or the diving board.
  10. Lifeguards will clear the pool for a short Safety Break during high traffic times or when they deem necessary.
  11. Parents, please tell your child(ren) not to interfere when there are lap swimmers present; the lap swimmers  “own” the lane.
  12. NO SMOKING in the pool area (or the Clubhouse).
